Stan Sweaney

Stan Sweaney paints North American wildlife and wildlife in landscapes. Born in 1956 in Colorado Springs, Colorado, Stan has been drawing and painting wildlife for over 40 years. Though he holds an art degree from Colorado State University, he believes his best training has come from studying wildlife in the field. Andrew Wyeth, Bruno Liljetors, Terry Isaac and Robert Bateman inspire his work.

In 1988, Stan won the title of "BEST IN WORLD" for a painting of a rainbow trout entered in the "WORLD WILDLIFE ART FESTIVAL" in Macon, Georgia. In 1991 he was chosen to participate in the prestigious ROBERT BATEMAN MASTER CLASS sponsored by the Colorado Springs Fine Arts Center.

Stan's most impressive paintings are large since his use of the airbrush in his paintings lends itself best to a larger format. Most of his work is done in acrylic though he uses watercolor for smaller, delicate depictions of songbirds and native fishes. Stan believes that experiencing nature helps him to connect to his inner child. The child, who at an early age, was astounded by the endless beauty of nature in color and form. Stan Sweaney's paintings can be found in collections throughout the United States.
