Rosemarie Adcock
Rosemarie Adcock was born Rosemarie Oehler in 1956 in Chicago, to German-Austrian immigrants.
Between 1978 and 1980 she studied at the American Academy of Art under Eugene Hall, a second-generation apprentice to the Russian master Ilya Repin.
She received a Bachelor of Fine Arts degree in painting and drawing from the School of the Art Institute of Chicago; and an independent study scholarship from the Minister of Culture of Baden-Wurtenberg, Germany. The artist studied monumental painting and printmaking nearly two years at the State Academy of Fine Arts in Karlsruhe, Germany, under Max Neumann, visiting professor for Professor Markus Lupertz.
It was during her time in Germany that she began to research issues concerned with the division of Eastern and Western Europe, which led to the development of a series of paintings covering peasants in remote areas of Russia.
The seven year international tour of this exhibit resulted in humanitarian relief shipments for the peasants and orphans of Russia. The artist founded the charitable organization, Arts for Relief and Missions, Inc. (ARM), to facilitate the relief efforts.(www.arminc.org)
Developed concurrent with these works from life has been the Garden Series consisting of modern depictions of Biblical themes, most of which are in monumental format. Some monumental paintings of recent years have been executed live before an audience.
The artist's paintings are included in private and public collections in the United States and abroad. Commissioned works include altarpieces, portraits and outdoor murals. The artist has also been a speaker at many conferences in the U.S. and abroad, and has appeared on numerous radio and television programs. She currently lives with her husband Ed in Lake Villa, Illinois.
